Our beautiful Island is divided into ten parishes. Each one is administered by officials (Douzeniers and Constables). Their responsibilities includes:-
Ensuring that roadside hedges are trimmed
Supervising watercourses and streams (douits)
Administering Parish cemeteries
Maintaining wayside pumps and troughs
Collecting Parish rates
Issuing dog licences and collecting dog tax
Managing parish boat moorings
Churches
Noxious weed control
Refuse
